Job Description
General Summary:

The Material Handling Specialist's position consists of providing proactive, organized, and consistent administrative support to leadership, project managers, and engineers at NuWaves. This individial is part of the production team that coordinates and maintains movement of components and materials and is a liaison between internal teams and external suppliers. The Material Handling Specialist will also ship products, receive materials, recommend replacements, complete requisitions, and ensure quality and efficient project and product execution. The Material Handling Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring that production has theresourcesnecessarytooperateefficientlyon a daily basis.

Essential Functions:



  • Provide general administrative support services in an office setting with repetitive tasks, which may include data collection, administration, records management, and reporting.
  • Coordinate material procurement for engineers and project managers, ensuring correct and timely delivery of materials to support production activities.
  • Gather material cost and delivery information during the project planning phase.
  • Monitor progress of components and materials procurement; assist Project Management in expediting to meet project schedules; monitor and perform inspection activities; resolve issues associated with material delivery.
  • Prepare components and materials requisitions using engineering drawings, specifications, and parts lists; ensure all material required is ordered and received; administer material control documents including requisitions, purchase orders, material transfers, receiving reports, etc.
  • Assist project managers and executives in materials acquisition strategies.
  • Verify all paperwork for outgoing products (control tags, certificates of conformity, etc.) has been completed and approved by the project manager prior to shipment.
  • Consult the purchase order or contract to determine specific client shipping requirements; complete DD1149 forms for shipments of Government Material or Equipment; ensure all packages are properly packaged, packing slips are correct, and customer addresses are double checked for accuracy.
  • Assist in executing NuWaves' Property Management Plan.
  • Inspect incoming freight for damages prior to signing for deliveries.
  • Follow all Manufacturing and Return Material Authorization (RMA) procedures.
  • Notify Purchasing of any discrepancies of package contents and paperwork.
  • Communicate carrier and tracking information to all recipients and provide all necessary documentation to Purchasing and Accounting.
  • Maintain and continuously improve procedures and documentation required for quality certifications.
  • Work with engineers and project managers to ensure that work-product expectations are well defined, completely understood, and clearly communicated.
  • Be flexible and adaptable in order to meet both the tactical and strategic objectives of NuWaves.
  • Provide excellent communications, both written and verbal, throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Maintain a high degree of motivation in team members to retain focus of providing highest levels of customer satisfaction - including direct customer communication and support.


Pay Range: $15 - $25 per hour.

Requires frequent standing and lifting.
