General Position Overview

This position plays a crucial role in sourcing, evaluating, and procuring tooling and manufacturing equipment necessary for our production processes. Collaborates closely with internal teams, suppliers, and manufacturers to ensure the quality and efficiency of tooling solutions that meet our operational needs.

Essential Job Functions

  • Demonstrates SoundOff Signal's Core Values in daily interactions with internal and external customers.
  • Analyzes tooling requirements for various manufacturing processes.
  • Researches and evaluates potential suppliers and tooling solutions, ensuring alignment with engineering specifications and quality standards.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with suppliers to negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and terms to optimize procurement processes.
  • Conducts supplier audits to assess quality, reliability and proper tool storage/maintenance.
  • Collaborates with finance and purchasing teams to prepare cost estimates and budgets for tooling investments. Identifies opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality.
  • Collaborates with finance and purchasing to maintain proper tooling asset management, and location information.
  • Provides technical guidance to the purchasing team on tooling specifications and capabilities.
  • Collaborates with engineering teams to ensure tooling designs meet production requirements.
  • Works with cross-functional teams on tooling projects from conception to implementation. Ensures timely delivery of tooling to meet production schedules.
  • Monitors tooling performance and collaborates with quality assurance teams to address any issues related to tooling defects or performance failures.
  • Maintains accurate records of tooling purchases, supplier performance, and project status.
  • Ensures company's tooling standards are complied too.
  • Engages with overseas tooling suppliers and domestic injection molders to ensure parts can be manufactured as designed.
  • Generates reports to track KPIs and assess the effectiveness of tooling procurement strategies.
  • Able to perform job consistently and without excessive absenteeism or tardiness.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 4-10 years of experience in tooling engineering or purchasing within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and familiarity with tooling design principles. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with strong analytical and quantitative skills. Ability to interpret technical documents and specifications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present findings to management.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Able to stand, sit, walk, bend, twist, rotate and/or reach throughout an entire shift.
  • Must be able to handle and work with small parts.

Working Conditions

  • Mostly office environment, occasional light manufacturing environment
  • Fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Low noise level in a temperature-controlled setting
  • Some level of domestic and/or international travel may be required
  • May work remotely
  • Mostly normal business hours with occasional need to flex hours
