The School of Dental Medicine is composed of ten administrative offices and four academic departments. The Administrative units include the Offices of the Dean, Vice Dean, Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Associate Dean for Research, Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, Associate Dean for Extramural Clinical Practices, Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs, Assistant Dean for Dental Education and Informatics, Assistant Dean for Academic Success and the Assistant Dean for Business Operations and Financial Affairs. The four academic departments are Surgical Sciences, Pediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, General Dentistry and Foundational Sciences.
Included in the mission of the School of Dental Medicine is to educate dental care providers (both dental students and dental residents) and to address the oral health care needs of the underserved population of North Carolina. The School of Dental Medicine meets these missions by operating dental clinics that provide both educational experiences for the dental students and residents and provides dental care to the residents of North Carolina. These clinics occur in both Ross Hall in Greenville, North Carolina, as well as Community Service-Learning Centers located throughout North Carolina. To operate these clinics, appropriate dental auxiliaries and clinical staff are needed. |
Job Duties |
General Overview
The Project Manager will work on several ongoing projects. In general, the projects deal with community-based collaboration. Each project has a data component with a need for quarterly reports. This position demands a great deal of responsibility and expertise in organization, communication, and technology. The individual in this role will oversee all aspects of the field study project, ensuring they align with an approved
ECU, and
IRB protocol. As the Project Manager, this person will implement and enforce quality control procedures in a secure work environment. They will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) and collaborate with fellow researchers, researchers from other universities, not-for-profit organizations, laboratory technicians, and information technology developers.
Summary Description: The postdoctoral scholar is responsible for independent and collaborative development, implementation, and analysis of scientific research in the discipline of dental public health. Responsibilities include management of all aspects of program planning, data collection, evalution, manuscript development. Duties include: hypothesis development, literature review, collection of pilot data, report writing, and supervising of undergraduate research students and graduate research students, overseeing data collection procedures, supervising study procedures, review of data for quality control, supervision of data entry/data analysis, analysis of research hypothesis using descriptive and multivariate statistics, and the development of independent and collaborative presentations and publications.
Scholars are expected to demonstrate compliance with established guidelines and regulatory standards for research including biosafety, responsible conduct of research and human subjects training.
Job Duties:
Approximately 90% of the postdoctoral scholar's time will be devoted to collaborative projects under the guidance of faculty from the School of Dental Medicine Division of Dental Public Health.
Approximately 10% of the postdoctoral scholar's time will be devoted to managing the day-to-day activity of undergraduate and graduate research students in the department. |
