How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The Electro Mechanical Design Engineer will play a critical role in the design, development, and implementation of mechanical and electrical systems for turbo-expander and rotating equipment. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of both mechanical design (piping, valves, process systems) and electrical control systems, with a focus on creating integrated solutions that meet or exceed company safety standards and comply with local and global engineering guidelines.
The role demands expertise in:

  • Mechanical system design for rotating equipment

  • Electrical instrumentation and control systems

  • SolidWorks and AutoCAD

  • PLC and control panel design

  • Compliance with industry standards (ASME, API, ANSI, CSA, IEC, NEC

Design & Documentation

  • Create and review technical drawings:

    • Electrical schematics

    • Control panel designs

    • Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)

    • Interface Control Documents (ICD)

    • General Arrangement Drawings (GAD)

  • Develop system assembly drawings, process flow diagrams (PFDs)

  • Size and select system components:

    • Mechanical equipment (pumps, valves, heat exchangers)

    • Electrical instrumentation

    • Control systems

  • Utilize global standards for electrical and mechanical design

Technical & Project Involvement

  • Meet or exceed company safety standards

  • Comply with E&C Global and Local engineering standards

  • Participate in Design Basis and Solution development

  • Attend and contribute to Design Review meetings

  • Conduct Functional Acceptance Tests (F.A.T.)

  • Review client technical documentation and requirements

  • Lead and participate in Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) assessments

Systems Integration & Optimization

  • Ensure instrumentation and control systems are designed in compliance with applicable codes

  • Integrate electrical and mechanical systems for optimal performance

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues during system commissioning

  • Leverage previous project experiences to improve future designs

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay updated on advancements in:

    • Industry standards

    • Mechanical design

    • Electrical control systems

  • Share best practices and innovative design solutions

  • Contribute to local and global engineering development efforts

Education & Experience:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering required

  • 7-10 years of experience in:

    • Turbo-Expander or Pump System Engineering

    • Rotating Equipment Design

    • Manufacturing Environment

    • Mechanical and Electrical Systems Integration

  • Proficient in:

    • PLC and LabVIEW

    • SolidWorks

    • AutoCAD

  • Electrical instrumentation expertise

  • Failure and root cause analysis

  • Knowledge of electrical codes (CSA, IEC, NEC)

  • Strong understanding of fluid dynamics and thermodynamics

  • Material selection for mechanical and electrical systems

The annual base salary range for this position in California is $110,000 - $120,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Air Liquide considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
