Maintenance Technician

What this job involves - The Maintenance Technician is in charge of performing ongoing facility maintenance and completing repairs on equipment. Their duties include fixing machinery, plumbing, heating and wiring, inspecting buildings to confirm safety standards and scheduling major repairs with the building's inhabitants.

What is the day to day?
Conduct regular inspections of facilities, equipment, and systems to identify maintenance needs and potential issues
Perform preventive maintenance on building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency situations Troubleshoot and repair various building systems and equipment
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes
Collaborate with other team members and external contractors as needed
Assist in the implementation of energy efficiency initiatives
Participate in ongoing training to stay current with industry standards and new technologies

Desired experience or technical skills -
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
2+ years of experience in building maintenance or a related field
Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing
Proficiency in using hand and power tools
Basic computer skills for maintenance management systems
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Flexibility to work overtime, as needed, including, evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations
Preferred
Technical school certification preferred
Familiar using CMMS (computer maintenance management system)
