The Department of Psychiatry at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center (MH MMCP) and the MaineHealth Medical Group (MHMG) seeks a board-certified Psychiatrist to join our Geriatric / Neuropsychiatry Inpatient Program in Portland. Successful candidates will be gifted clinician-educators committed to identifying and treating psychiatric and neuropsychiatric illness and substance use disorders in an inpatient medical setting, and excited to work with a team of like-minded colleagues. We are seeking a Physician lead, with skills in clinical leadership, education and administrative duties. The Lead Psychiatrist will act as a liaison between clinical staff, patients and administrative leadership to maintain high-quality care and operational excellence.

The P6 Psychiatry Service at MMCP is an interdisciplinary team comprised of Psychiatrists, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Social Workers, Nurses and learners. We provide inpatient services to MMCP inpatients. We support cross coverage for hospital psychiatry needs in the MMCP Emergency Department and our Consultation Liaison service. Our program is unique and highly valued by colleagues and region-wide stakeholders. In addition to clinical care, the P6 Psychiatry Program is a major teaching resource for MMCP. We provide training experiences for adult psychiatry residents, geriatric medicine fellows, Tufts University School of Medicine and other medical students, and trainees in other fields. We have a culture of continuous quality improvement and our performance in the areas of safety, quality, and satisfaction are consistently excellent.

MMCP has 700 beds and is the state's leading tertiary care hospital and only Level 1 Trauma Center with a full complement of residencies and fellowshipsand integration with Tufts University School of Medicine. The Emergency Department at Maine Medical Center comprises 63 beds, including an embedded 6-bed secure Acute Psychiatry Unit. MHMG psychiatrists enjoy the benefits of a reasonable call schedule, generous time off and CME days, a substantial CME stipend, generous retirement plans, and comprehensive health insurance options. Physicians are expected to apply for faculty appointment to the Tufts University School of Medicine.
