Velosity is searching for a Metrology Technician to support our manufacturing facility in Brooklyn Park, MN. The ideal candidate will be proficient in programming inspection equipment, developing and adapting inspection fixtures, executing First Article Inspections (FAI), and supporting part qualification activities.

This is an on-site position.

The typical pay range for this role: $25.00 - $37.50/hour. Also eligible for 5% quarterly bonus.

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.

Essential Duties:

  • Program and operate CMMs and VMMs with expertise
  • Develop and adapt inspection fixtures and programs to ensure quality standards are met
  • Execute First Article Inspections (FAI) and capability studies
  • Support part qualification activities and complete mold evaluations
  • Initiate, perform, and maintain inspection instructions for receiving, in-process, and final inspections
  • Participate in corrective action processes and assist with ISO system compliance
  • Train and assist other team members in CMM/VMM operation and programming
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in quality assurance and CMM/VMM programming
  • Technical training certificates preferred (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Technician, GD&T, Blueprint Reading)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and business operating systems
  • Strong understanding of modern manufacturing processes, blueprint reading, and GD&T
  • Experience with basic measurement tools and in-process tolerancing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving our quality standards, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure product excellence and customer satisfaction.

Physical & Mental Demands:

  • Walking and stair climbing is required within the office/shop areas. Sitting, standing, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, and fingers are physical requirements. Must have correctable eyesight and good depth perception. Must be able to walk, sit and occasionally climb and balance.
  • Ability to lift to 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and complete them within a timely manner; Ability to make decisions with limited information.

Work Environment:

This is a non-smoking, professional manufacturing facility with normal lighting, and climate control. This position requires the employee to work on a manufacturing floor where they may be subject to airborne contaminants and chemical odors.

Protective Clothing Required:

When in certain locations of the facility, eye and ear protection are required. Closed-toed/ Slip resistant shoes are also required in certain locations.
