Job Description Summary: |
This position is responsible for developing and implementing effective and strategic communications content and tactics for web, social media, and other digital platforms for the Cisneros Institute. Key responsibilities include research and programmatic promotion via print and electronic media; supporting event logistics, administration, and content production; managing the Institute's social media accounts and webpages; and adapting communications/marketing plans as relevant for continual engagement.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing strategic communication and marketing plans and content for web, social media and other digital platforms, as well as supporting events. The candidate must be a strong writer, know how to manage content on social media and understand how to leverage photo/video assets for digital media. This position will write and edit content for web, social media and other digital platforms; manage, upload and refresh content on web, social media and other digital platforms; and work closely with Institute staff to ensure cohesive messaging across programs. This position also performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Duties:
- Strategy. Work with Cisneros Institute leadership to develop a research and programmatic communications strategy that promotes affiliate research uptake and programmatic engagement within the University community and with our broader constituency through a range of media, including print, video, social media, etc. Pursue a strategy for the team to engage and influence national dialogues around Latinos in the United States.
- Research Promotion. Work with Institute leadership to coordinate and schedule the promotion of research publications and findings; promote Cisneros-sponsored events and activities across all social media platforms. Create original graphics and infographics for print and electronic media. Assist in designing and producing educational and outreach materials (brochures, fliers, postcards, etc.)
- Events. Provide administrative/logistical event planning support for Cisneros Institute hosted and co-sponsored events, campaigns, promotions, and other outreach activities. Capture video and photos of events, as relevant.
- Social Media/Website. Manage the day-to-day scheduling and management of social media channels, produce content for all social media channels; respond to follower questions, comments and posts. Maintain content on Cisneros Institute and Cisneros-owned websites; Develop and assist in creating content for blogs and work with partners to develop content for cross posting. Maintain email subscriber distribution lists and databases. Track, analyze, and report on social media metrics, email engagement, and web traffic.
- Management. Work with Cisneros leadership to manage communications activities within established budget. Supervise students or other employees that assist with communications tasks.

Minimum Qualifications: |
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. |
