The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The individual is expected to work on a pre-clinical model of a pediatric brain disorder for which there is currently no effective treatment. Specifically, they will administer, test, and refine a gene replacement strategy in a rodent model. This involves mouse husbandry, genotyping, and conducting a range of molecular, cellular, and behavioral assays on the model mice.

In addition to the research work in the lab, the individual is expected to help develop IACUC protocols and manage certain aspects of running a research lab, such as liaising with the university's Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) office, ensuring the lab complies with state, local, and university regulations, and ordering reagents for lab work.

Responsibilities



  • Administer, test, and refine a gene replacement strategy in a rodent model.
  • Conduct mouse husbandry, genotyping, and a range of molecular, cellular, and behavioral assays.
  • Develop and maintain IACUC protocols to ensure compliance with ethical research standards.
  • Liaise with the university's Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) office.
  • Ensure the lab is compliant with state, local, and university regulations.
  • Order reagents and supplies necessary for lab operations.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience required.


Preferred Qualifications



  • 0-2 years of prior experience working with rodent models in a research laboratory.
  • Master's degree (M.S.) preferred.
