Job Purpose:
The Strategic Planning Operations Manager (SPOM) aligns the regional organizations' daily operations with its long-term strategic goals. Collaborating with senior leadership, the SPOM articulates the company's vision and identifies critical regional themes. Key responsibilities include overseeing annual business planning process, developing corporate-wide performance metrics, and ensuring initiatives are completed on time and within budget. They foster cross-functional collaboration, communicate updates to stakeholders, provide project management, and guide change management efforts. By integrating strategy with operational execution, the SPOM helps the organization navigate challenges and maintain focus on its objectives, ultimately driving growth and enhancing overall effectiveness.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead development and execution of the overall, cross-company regional Business Plan process. Lead strategic discussions across companies, negotiate and correlate with executive regional leaders to deliver annual business plan:
- Author & Own Annual Strategic Planning Regional Roadmap
- Develop and Execute Business Resource Meeting (BRM) annual process
- Rotate PDCA (reflection) to bring annual improvements to the full process.
- Gain deep understanding of the overall, cross-company regional Strategic Plan process and direction. Aid company in establishing business plan that is aligned and effective in achieving the regional direction and targets.
- Lead development of the overall, cross-company regional Common business plan:
- Utilize Regional Materiality Analysis as basis of effort
- Drive cross-company collaboration for thematic clarity and consensus
- Develop and lead annual process for business plan creation and checking
- Provide leadership for administrative tasks within Regional Planning, to include, but not limited to, Budget, Divisional Business Planning, Training, Risk, Governance, Succession Planning, Associate engagement & Diversity, Mentoring, etc.
- Lead ad hoc strategic projects with cross-functional teams; Business Feasibility
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or Engineering, MBA preferred
- 12+ years of experience in planning
- Foundation of financial acumen
- Business Strategy development participation
- Solid grasp of Honda Philosophy and enterprise-wide strategic principles
- Strong leadership skills; ability to stimulate change and gain consensus with multiple Business teams
- Excellent communication skills; ability to present material in a compelling and thorough manner, addressing key issues and areas of importance
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks
- Flexibility to adjust to meet dynamics in market, between companies, and within workplace
Workstyle:
- Hybrid
- Open office environment, with opportunity for small, private space, collaboration
- Travel required, 1 X per year
- OT and off-hour communication expected, occasionally
