Director, Healthcare Consulting

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Business Line Leadership and Management:
    • Lead and manage a team of consultants across multiple projects, ensuring high-quality delivery.
    • Provide mentorship and career development for consulting staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning, professional growth, and high performance.
    • Direct and oversee resource allocation, staffing, and scheduling for consulting engagements to meet client needs and deadlines.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, including C-Suite leaders, managing relationships and maintaining satisfaction throughout the life cycle of consulting projects.
    • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Commercial, Technology, Marketing, Finance, HR) to leverage all of Premier's strategic differentiators to drive revenue and create "stickiness" and optimize operational support and margin enhancement for the healthcare consulting practice.
  • Consulting Delivery:
    • Lead complex projects focusing on operations improvement, clinical transformation, or revenue cycle management to drive efficiency, reduce costs, and improve patient outcomes.
    • Analyze client operations, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop actionable strategies that enhance clinical workflows, reduce waste, and streamline healthcare delivery.
    • Manage change management processes and support clients through the implementation of new practices, technologies, and systems.
    • Guide clients in navigating regulatory and compliance challenges within healthcare settings while ensuring best practices in clinical standards and operational efficiency.
  • Strategic Planning and Business Development:
    • Contribute to the development of business strategies, including identifying growth opportunities within existing accounts and new markets.
    • Lead the proposal development process for new client engagements, including scoping, costing, and defining project deliverables.
    • Assist in creating thought leadership content, including white papers, case studies, and presentations, to position the firm as a leader in healthcare consulting.
    • Engage in industry networking and represent the firm at conferences, seminars, and client-facing meetings.
  • Financial and Operational Oversight:
    • Manage project budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and delivering projects on time and within scope.
    • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess project progress, client satisfaction, and business impact.
    • Ensure the effective deployment of best practices for project management, risk mitigation, and quality control across all consulting engagements.

Required Qualifications

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or a related field is highly preferred.
    • Relevant certifications such as Lean Six Sigma, Project Management Professional (PMP), or healthcare-related credentials are a plus.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in healthcare consulting, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role focused on operations improvement, clinical transformation, or healthcare strategy.
    • Proven track record of leading complex consulting engagements that have driven measurable improvements in clinical and operational outcomes for healthcare organizations.
    • Extensive experience in managing teams and delivering projects in multi-disciplinary settings, including collaboration with clinical, IT, financial, and executive teams.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Healthcare Knowledge: Strong understanding of healthcare systems, clinical workflows, value-based care, and healthcare policy.
  • Operations Improvement Expertise: Deep knowledge of methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar approaches for optimizing processes and improving quality in healthcare settings.
  • Clinical Transformation: Experience in clinical process redesign, patient safety initiatives, and clinical outcome optimization.
  • Project Management: Expertise in managing large-scale projects, including scope definition, timeline management, and risk mitigation.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Ability to analyze complex data, synthesize insights, and make informed decisions to drive business results and improvements.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Client Management: Strong client-facing skills with the ability to manage client expectations, foster long-term relationships, and deliver superior service.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience in managing project budgets, forecasts, and profitability.

Working Conditions: Remote Travel Requirements: Travel 81-100% within the US Physical Demands: Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves remaining stationary most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if movement is required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. Premier's compensation philosophy is to ensure that compensation is reasonable, equitable, and competitive in order to attract and retain talented and highly skilled employees. Premier's internal salary range for this role is $195,000 - $361,000. Final salary is dependent upon several market factors including, but not limited to, departmental budgets, internal equity, education, unique skills/experience, and geographic location. Premier utilizes a wide-range salary structure to allow base salary flexibility within our ranges.
