We are seeking an enthusiastic data professional motivated by our mission to support communities in energy planning and action. The Community Energy Analyst works on the Data Team for Xcel Energy's Partners in Energy program, managing data processing, analysis, and reporting for Minnesota and Wisconsin. The Community Energy Analyst also supports other Communities Department project data needs.

What You'll Do



  • Work collaboratively with CEE staff to deliver high-quality program services
  • Manage bi-annual Partners in Energy program implementation and planning data processing, including data verification, vendor team and utility communication, and integration into program tools and databases (e.g., COMPASS, Corvidae, Postgres)
  • Perform data verification and regular tool and database QC to identify potential errors in data processing and goal modeling for planning and implementation data reporting
  • Align data processing tools and templates with current technical assumptions, Xcel Energy triennial plans, and vendor team queries and scripts
  • Analyze energy and demographic data to generate summary tables, graphs, and presentation slides, providing quantitative planning support to community facilitation team
  • Support community workshop facilitation as needed, including reviewing data slides, presenting at workshops, and facilitating activities
  • Model community strategy impact and goal scenarios, such as electricity and therms savings, cost savings, and greenhouse gas reductions, under guidance from community facilitators and program manager
  • Assist with energy action plan development by creating and formatting data tables and graphs to program and community branding standards
  • Create statewide summary reports, identifying program-wide trends and impacts under the guidance of the program manager
  • Support ad-hoc community and Xcel Energy data requests, leveraging internal and external data sources
  • Support Communities Department project data needs with processing, analysis and visualization skills
  • Use established systems to help create work plans, track milestones, and report progress; and help develop systems and processes where none currently exist
  • Recognize and uphold established program standards to deliver consistent work products, including attention to branding and communications protocols

  • Must be able to work nights and weekends, as needed
  • Other tasks as assigned/ apparent.


Skills & Knowledge We're Looking For



  • Bachelor's degree in city planning, environmental studies, engineering, or related field (or a combination of education/training and/or experience)
  • At least 2 years of experience in planning, data analytics, or energy services
  • Experience analyzing large data sets, including the ability to perform quantitative analysis with limited guidance
  • Experience with data storytelling to inform decision making, including facilitating discussions with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including a comfort with public speaking
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to work independently to find solutions
  • Exceptional attention to detail and assiduous follow-through
  • Exceptional computer skills in Microsoft Office products, including advanced skills particularly in Excel but also in Word and PowerPoint
  • Must demonstrate time-management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Proficient with database programs, such as Tableau, and scripting languages, such as SQL, Python or R
  • Experience with ArcGIS and mapping a plus
  • Experience analyzing energy consumption, greenhouse gas emission and demographic data sets
  • Must have reliable transportation to attend meetings and off-site events at multiple CEE offices and in communities, including transportation of materials and equipment as needed


Compensation

Dependent on qualifications and experience, we expect the hiring range for this position will be $28 to $29.5/ hour.
