Overview
The person in this position will assist Weber County Extension Agent and Ogden Botanical Gardens manager with garden maintenance, planting educational demonstration plots, supporting Master Gardener volunteers, and assisting with Extension events.

Responsibilities
  • Weekly maintenance in the gardens (weeding, fertilizing, planting, harvesting, pruning, and organizing tools).
  • Assist volunteers during workdays at the gardens.
  • Assist with public classes and events through Extension.
  • Help with crop entries and judging at the Weber County Fair (August 7-10).


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must have competent English communication skills.
  • Able to work outdoors in Utah's summer weather.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Student studying horticulture or related field.
  • Employment experience or education in horticulture and related fields.
  • Work well as a team, as well as independently

$16 per hour

Outdoors, incumbents may not be protected from weather conditions and may be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold. Additionally, indoor or outdoor work environments may include being confined or in narrow spaces for periods of time. The incumbent may also be exposed to loud noises or vibrations from equipment, and conditions that may affect the respiratory system, such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation. Bending, crawling, and crouching may be required. Incumbents may be required to lift, push, and/or pull objects up to 50 pounds and be required to walk and/or stand for long periods of time.
