Respiratory Therapist Assistant - Per Diem Evening

Job Summary:

MedStar Health is currently seeking an Assistant Respiratory Therapist to join our team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. This position is for a detail-oriented and organized new graduate or clinician who will assist with non-patient care duties such as stocking and inventorying supplies, inspecting medical gas outlets, and ensuring that equipment is properly maintained and readily available.

As an Assistant Respiratory Therapist, you will perform non-patient care duties such as general cleaning and processing of ventilators, and other general equipment used by the department. Additional duties include, but are not limited to, stocking of supplies, inventorying and trending the use of medical gases, inspection of medical gas outlets as directed, and other duties as assigned.

Primary Duties:

• Clean and process instrumentation between procedures, following established protocol. Ensure equipment is functioning properly.

• Disassemble and reassemble department equipment, performing related equipment function checks. Clean equipment/parts according to established protocols.

• Obtain and deliver instrumentation/supplies to/from Sterile Processing Department, stock area and/or Material Management.

• Maintain stock levels of supplies, including sterile and disposable supplies, for designated locations throughout the hospital, including, but not limited to: The Operating Room, Labor & Delivery, MedSTAR, the Emergency Room, etc. Replace depleted stock to par levels. Place orders to replenish stock.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Vocational/Technical Diploma enrollment in a COARC approved Resp Therp program OR

Associate degree enrollment in a COARC approved Resp Therp program

• Less than 1 year Respiratory Therapy clinical rotation experience in an acute care hospital preferred

• CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit within 90 days
