MuGungHwa Parent Group Job Description

Position Title: MuGungHwa ((Moo-gung-wha) or the "Rose of Sharon'' Parent Group Sponsor
for Niles North / Niles West

Reports To: Chief Equity Officer

Position Statement: The sponsor of MuGungHwa will provide a space for the Korean
community (and others) of Niles Township District 219. The sponsor will plan and execute
monthly meetings throughout the year and support families on a weekly basis.

Essential Functions:
* Maintains a variety of documents including club's activity account budget, field trip
forms, and attendance records for club meetings and events.
* Recruits members throughout the school year in order to keep an active club.
* Follows fundraising procedures according to the Sponsor Handbook.
* Requests room space for monthly meetings and events to be approved by the Chief
Equity Officer and makes travel arrangements in advance.
* Creates fliers and posters for monthly meetings which includes event time and location
and obtains approval before posting.
* Promotes and publicizes parent group meetings and events by utilizing email, parent
phone calls, PA announcements, fliers and posters, video announcements, and social
media accounts.
* Engages families in district-wide events and community resources.
* Maintains positive relationships with students and families, supports our diverse
population, and interacts with students and adults in a respectful manner.
* Collaborates with the Chief Equity Officer to maintain the vision of the department.
* Confirms the security of the facilities.
* Plans activities to meet the needs, skills, and interests of the families involved.
* Uses appropriate channels to resolve concerns and problems.

* Adheres to D219 Board of Education policies and procedures and other professional
agency policies.
* Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient
functioning of the parent group.

Goals of the Club: The goal of MuGungHwa is to create an inclusive and supportive
environment for our families. MuGungHwa will connect parents with district and community
resources, so they feel they have a voice in the school and larger community. Concerns and
feedback on future meetings and events will be asked of families.

Calendar: August through May monthly meetings

Hours Per Week: 2 - 3 hours per week

Building: Niles West and Niles North

Performance Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with
provisions of the District evaluation procedures.
