POSITION/JOB TITLE: Tax Manager

DEPARTMENT: Tax Department

LOCATION: Lisle, IL

DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Director, Tax

TRAVEL: Less than 10%

POSITION SUMMARY: The Tax Manager is primarily responsible for supporting the Tax Accounting and Financial Accounting & Reporting function by assisting the Director, Tax with managing the preparation of domestic state & local income tax compliance, federal, state, & local tax audits, franchise tax compliance, account reconciliations, extension requests and estimated payments. The Tax Manager will also be asked to identify and implement state and federal tax planning opportunities that will reduce the overall effective and cash tax rates. The Tax Manager will be the preparer of the quarterly tax provision (FAS 109 & FIN48) and assist with special tax projects related to research & development tax credits and other economic credit development incentives.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Manages the data flow and reviews preparation of federal, state & local tax returns;
  • Manage the preparation of property tax returns, estimated tax payments, sales & use tax returns, & other tax filings;
  • Manages the comprehensive tax calendar & filing footprint obligations;
  • Implements federal, state & local income tax planning initiatives;
  • Prepares the quarterly tax provision, including FAS109, FIN48, SOX 404 and account reconciliations;
  • Provides support for state and local tax audits;
  • Provides support for various tax projects including tax research, tax modelling, fixed asset accounting and other miscellaneous federal and state tax projects;
  • Researches and drafts responses for tax inquiries including income, franchise, payroll, etc.;
  • Identifies and implements process improvement initiatives for tax filing processes;
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


TECHNICAL SKILLS:



  • Good knowledge of tax laws and regulations;
  • Experience with partnership tax laws preferred but not required;
  • Knowledge of tax technology, including proficiency in on-line research and tax provision software, such as Thomson Reuters OneSource Tax Provision;
  • Strong PC skills and highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced and dynamic environment;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to simplify and communicate complex business information;
  • Detail oriented and thorough;
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently.


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS/WORK EXPERIENCE:



  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, MBA or MST is a plus;
  • 5-7+ years in Federal and multistate income tax compliance, tax accounting, and tax research in a CPA firm or a corporate tax environment;
  • Public company experience preferred but not required;
  • Oracle ERP experience preferred but not required


CERTIFICATIONS:



  • A CPA is a plus but not required


Base pay $75,389 - $150,778 based on experience.

Annual performance bonus target 15%
