General Summary

Under general supervision, the Payment Specialist Trainee will be required to successfully pass an extensive training program that will prepare them to work independently and perform all functions of the Provider Payment Specialist I position. Upon successful completion of the Training Program, the Payment Specialist Trainee will promote to a Provider Payments Specialist I position. Due to the nature of the Training Program, Training Program participants are not eligible for consideration or movement into other positions at CCRC until successfully completing the Training Program. Training will cover all aspects of reviewing, analyzing and processing child care provider payments on behalf of parents participating in California subsidized child care programs. Depending on performance, the training program is expected to be completed within 6 to 9 months following the start of training.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Within the team structure, Payment Specialist Trainees are expected to meet all benchmarks outlined within the Training Program and provide payment services to subsidy providers, which include the following responsibilities:
  • Go to our job board to apply: job board
  • Analyze and perform a complete review of the submitted attendance record prior to processing payment. May require outreach when discrepancies and/or inconsistencies are found. 20%
  • Process child care provider payments accurately per established timelines. Data enter payments into the payment database and reconcile daily. Includes processing monthly workload for open positions. 60%
  • Provide support and technical assistance to providers and other agency staff. Knowledge of electronic payment option. Includes customer service for open positions. 15%
  • Develop and maintain knowledge and clear understanding of program regulations, guidelines, Title V, Regional Market Rate ceilings, and LA County Stage 1 Contract. 5%

We provide child development and early education, workforce development opportunities, child care financial assistance, Head Start preschool and Early Head Start services and more for close to 50,000 parents, children, and child care providers each month in Northern Los Angeles County, including Antelope Valley, and the entirety of San Bernardino County, including an office in Victorville, serving a total geographic area of 22,500 square miles.
