Maintenance Technician I

Description

Areas of Responsibility

  • Report to work when scheduled, directly affecting delivery and customer service scores
  • Perform work in safe manner according to safety policies and procedures, preventing injury to self and others
  • Perform work in efficient manner to reduce costs, measured by amount of time worked compared to amount of time allotted for work to be completed
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet needs of the business

Main Tasks

  • Maintain and repair machines and tools to within established specifications
  • Identify hazardous machine conditions and secure equipment against use as required
  • Maintain and repair building and equipment as required

Main Task Descriptions

  • Order machinery/tool replacement parts, or purchase locally as required
  • Read and understand all written instructions to maintain machinery/tools
  • Listen to and understand all verbal instructions to maintain machinery/tools
  • Repair machinery and equipment using a variety of machines and tools
  • Perform required maintenance inspections using appropriate tools
  • Record daily maintenance results on required forms

Special Requirements

  • Lift 50 lbs up to shoulders, 35 lbs above shoulders, and assist in lifting 51-90 lbs or bulky items
  • Stand, kneel, ascend/descend ladders and/or stairs carrying tools/equipment throughout shift
  • Work with chemicals and fiberglass material
  • Basic computer skills

Special Circumstances

  • Overtime as required, must be able to work weekends
  • Shift transfers as required

Work Environment

Temperature controlled

Moderate noise level

Astrocel II department requires lab coat, hair net and shoe covers

Possible allergies to materials or chemicals used in production.

Requirements

Education, Qualifications & Training

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Prefer maintenance/electrical certification/degree

Experience

  • 6 months related experience, maintenance preferred
  • Able to acquire forklift license
  • Valid driver's license

  • Accurately read tape measure, ruler and calipers
  • Apply mathematical reasoning to adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing whole numbers, fractions and decimals
  • Assist and/or coordinate on-the-job training for new employees
  • Correct or report unsafe conditions or injuries immediately to supervisor
