Overview

The Project Engineer II plays a pivotal role in managing client relationships and leading multiple design teams in the identification, scoping, and delivery of design projects. This position involves acting as a primary mentor for technical development, offering guidance and expertise to other engineers, and serving as a key peer reviewer for project deliverables. The Project Engineer II is responsible for fostering collaboration across various disciplines, working closely with clients, project managers, and other teams to ensure project success. They also coach and support team members, including field leaders, and are the primary leader on several complex projects at once, demonstrating strong project management, leadership, and technical skills.

Additional Information: The pay range for this position is $90,400 to $113,000+ benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by the experience and education required, and level of responsibility. The range posted for this role represents a range that Interstates, in good faith, believes it is willing to pay at the time of this posting. The pay is determined by job related skills, training, education, and experience.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage and strengthen client relationships by conducting sales-focused trips, delivering impactful presentations, and partnering with others as needed.
  • Direct and execute designs across multiple complex projects simultaneously, from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with client goals and maintaining high quality results.
  • Mentor a team through all project phases, providing clear direction and support towards successful outcomes.
  • Drive the design process through owning the collaboration with other disciplines.
  • Grow the technical knowledge of the organization by leading classes, mentoring others, and providing quality feedback on the review of other's work.
  • Coach project teams on best practices and proactively address project risks.
  • Mentor leaders across the organization to share expertise and strengthen collaboration.
  • Guide and support team members through effective delegation of tasks and project responsibilities.
  • Set overall development direction and create development experiences for team members.
  • Conduct peer reviews and approve drawings to maintain quality (PE stamping if applicable).
  • Drive standards improvements and model accountability in implementing and upholding standards across teams.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic initiatives that focus on the improvement or expansion of service offerings, aligning with growth objectives.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues alongside field personnel to maintain project flow and address challenges quickly.
  • Participate in broader industry to grow expertise through peer relationships, professional associations, governing bodies, or influential peer groups

Qualifications

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: A Project Engineer II is required to have a B.S. degree from a four-year ABET-accredited engineering program. Candidates should possess 7 or more years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required, or the candidate should be eligible to become a licensed PE or registered in at least one governing authority. In addition, candidates must have a strong understanding of electrical terminology and components, electrical symbols, and the National Electric Code (NEC). Proficiency in drafting software is preferred to support design and project development. This position demands experience in managing complex projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and applying engineering principles to deliver innovative and efficient solutions.

Travel Requirements: Travel will be required and will vary according to business requirements. Travel should not exceed 30% of your time.

Work Environment:
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment but may involve exposure to moderate noise levels from high-speed computer printers and other peripherals. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for extended periods of time. Occasional travel to various worksites may also be required, depending on the assignment
