Description: The University Village Pharmacy's Pharmacy Technician III performs complex pharmaceutical duties and/or are assigned lead roles in Ambulatory Pharmacy Services to manage all functions of the drug distribution process in the pharmacy. Duties & Responsibilities: In addition to the functions of Pharmacy Technician II and Pharmacy Technician I, the Technician III will: Personnel: Supervise Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Externs, and students in the following daily functions of pharmacy operation if delegated by the Assistant Director or designee. Coordination of weekly schedules, time off, and staff coverage. Process payroll, audit attendance. Participate in training of new employees. Identify staff development needs and assist Manager to develop a plan. Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and promote team work with positive attitude to promote a productive work environment. Monitor workflow to assure maintenance of high performance standard. Operations: Assess the needs/priorities of work areas during the day and assign Pharmacy Technicians and Externs to meet the needs. Coordinate ordering, reconciliation and maintenance of drug inventory. Facilitate control substance inventory counts as assigned by Manager. Coordinate ordering, reconciliation, delivery and billing of clinic floor stock. Maintain office supplies, packing and shipping supplies for mail order prescription services. Maintain all pharmacy software (automation), troubleshoot issues and order supplies. Maintain instruments and supplies for non-sterile compounding and prepare extemporaneous compounds as assigned by manager. Responsible for daily cash reports, deposits, change for daily cash. Performing counts to verify amounts on hand. Coordinate and incorporate the procedures from various pharmacy programs into workflow as assigned. Generate reports from pharmacy computer system. Fully participate and support quality improvement initiatives and comply with all legal and regulatory requirements. Communications: Attend pharmacy staff meetings to discuss pharmacy operation and pharmacy technician issues. Keep an open communications with Pharmacists, Technicians and Externs. Demonstrate good communication skills with all health care professionals in the clinic setting. Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with patients under stressful situations. Demonstrate ability to resolve conflicts appropriately, which may include identifying and involving the appropriate health care professionals to assist the patient. Demonstrate effective and timely communications skills with the supervising pharmacists and Manager to support operation needs. Uphold and demonstrate the employee expectations of the UI Health Code of Conduct and the University Code of Conduct. Minimum Qualifications Required: 1. Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the State of Illinois. 2. Any one of the following that equals six (6)months: A. Successful completion of a formal training program in technical, non-professional pharmaceutical procedures and practices. OR B. Work experience in technical, non-professional pharmaceutical procedures and practices. 3. Three (3) years (36 months) of progressively more responsible work experience as a pharmacy technician, which included one (1) year of lead worker duties. Preferred Qualifications: Proven track record of excellent customer service with patients, peers and health care professionals Excellent verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills Knowledge of pharmaceutical classification of drugs and dosage range Knowledge and/or experience of procedures necessary for Inventory maintenance, such as ordering and proper storage of drugs, rotating stock and medication recalls Knowledge of Illinois pharmacy insurances and how to troubleshoot issues Able to demonstrate skills in calculations of advanced pharmaceutical problems Experience in generating reports from the pharmacy computer system and evaluating reports in Microsoft Excel Knowledge of prescription record keeping requirements Experience with supervisory skills, including scheduling, hiring, firing, training and providing performance evaluations with the assistance of manager Experience in conducting quality assurance audits To Apply: For fullest consideration click on the Apply Now button, please fully complete all sections of the online application including adding your full work history with specific details of your duties & responsibilities for each position held.
