The engineer supports La Porte and several regional locations, which involves approx. 50% travel. This is a great opportunity to collaborate and meet our team.

You will enjoy working in a role that requires expertise in solving equipment issues, providing maintenance support, and optimizing rotating machinery. The machinery includes centrifugal, reciprocating and screw compressors, steam turbines, gas turbines, expanders, blowers, gearboxes, cooling towers, fin-fans, and all types of pumps including cryogenic pumps.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Initiate and implement reliability and efficiency improvement initiatives.

  • Provide technical support and supervision in the overhaul of large rotating machinery and re-rate of existing machinery for plant optimization initiatives.

  • Address machinery issues and failures starting with a review of operating trends, inspection work scope and repair plan, and participating in the root cause analysis (RCA).

  • Provide machinery training to the operation and maintenance team.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Experience (10+ years) in rotating equipment machinery design, application, engineering, and maintenance preferred.

  • Familiar with machinery vibration diagnostics skills and machinery troubleshooting skills.

  • Proficient with root cause analysis techniques.

  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.

  • Strong organizational, planning, interpersonal, and communication skills are important.

Work Hours / Travel Requirements:

  • A typical work schedule is Monday-Friday with an on-call (24/7) component for remote plant support. There is a back-up engineer that supports this role, however there may be a need to work on something urgent during the night, weekend, or holiday.

  • The travel is typically 50% throughout the greater Houston area and broadly throughout the Texas region. Most travel is within driving distance and will consist of day trips to operating facilities and shops. Opportunities for week-long trips could include traveling to facilities in California, Louisiana, and Pennsylvania (our global HQ).
