The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Columbia Center for Translational Immunology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) is seeking a highly motivated and talented Technician to join our team.

Our research focuses on understanding the biology of T cell function in the context of cancer and autoimmunity.

Responsibilities



  • Assist laboratory members in conducting experiments as directed by the Principal Investigator (PI).
  • Perform a variety of techniques, under close supervision, including:

    • Flow cytometry
    • Cell culture
    • PCR
    • Immunohistochemistry
    • Mouse colony maintenance


  • Process patient blood samples
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot lab equipment
  • Perform independent experiments
  • Prepare samples and reagents
  • Assist in assay development and optimization
  • Maintain lab inventory and order supplies as needed
  • Perform other related duties as needed


Minimum Qualifications



  • Two years of college or a completed A.A. program with an emphasis on chemistry, biology, physics, or related science plus one year of related experience or equivalent in training and/or experience
  • Ability to work in a neat and orderly manner following safety regulations and standard clinical protocols
  • Effective communication and organization skills


Other Requirements



  • The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made
  • Participation in the medical surveillance program

    • Position will involve work with laboratory animals
    • Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure


  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
