Red Seal Operating Engineer

What this job involves: The site Operating Engineer maintains and operates all equipment to provide a leading pharmaceutical company all site utilities needed for operation of their facility. This position requires either extensive experience with cogeneration systems or a combination of large industrial chiller and high-pressure boiler experience.

What your day-to-day will look like:
Maintaining and Operating (2) Solar Turbines, (2) Heat Recovery Steam Generators, (5) Large Industrial Chillers, Electric and Steam powered, (2) High Pressure Boilers and (2) Diesel Generators.
Assist in start-up, shutdown, and normal operations of cogeneration systems.
Operate major auxiliary equipment such as: air compressors, circulating water systems, boiler feedwater.
Performing routine water chemistry analysis.
Maintain logs, collect readings, and perform rounds on equipment.
Complies with company policies regarding Safety (training, lockout/tagout, and all associated permits).
Maintains tools and orders supplies as required for installation and repairs.
Keeps logs, documents equipment repairs, closes work orders, tracks time accurately in reports and provides timely and constant communication with the Operations Manager and Chief Engineer.
Complies with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials. Maintains a clean and safe workspace.

Work Schedule: This is a union position - 12 hour rotating shift - 7 to 7 (Usually 630 normal). Out of 28 days, you would work 7 days, 7 nights and have a 7-day swing of off time.

Desired or preferred experience and technical skills:
NJ Red Seal
Familiar with computer equipment and programs.
Knowledge of OSHA standards and local codes.
Prior knowledge of working within a GMP environment is a plus.

Required Skills and Experience
Either extensive experience with cogeneration systems OR a combination of large industrial chiller experience (500 tons or larger) and high-pressure boiler experience
High school diploma or state equivalent required.
Minimum of two years of related trade schooling or two years of work involving chillers, boilers, and/or cogeneration systems.
Team player, hard worker, good interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports.
(Blue Seal with requirement to obtain the Red Seal in 12 months) Stationary License required.

Please note: Candidates must have either cogeneration experience OR a combination of large industrial chiller and high-pressure boiler experience to be considered for this position.
