Overview
This position is responsible for preforming basic GIS tasks of a group of GIS professionals and watershed scientists in the ECOGEOMORPHOLOGY & TOPOGRAPHIC ANALYSIS LAB (ET-AL).
Successful performance will ensure that projects are completed on-time with a high level of organization and accuracy.

Responsibilities
Major Duties:
  • Uses GIS data and ArcGIS software to perform various tasks for a wide range of on-going projects.

Duties include:
  • Spatial data capture (internet-based), data organization/management, data manipulation, and basic spatial data analysis.
  • Potential for field data collection.
  • Keeps immediate supervisor informed concerning work progress including present and potential work problems.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

This means personal email, texting, online chatting and phone calls, etc. should be keep to a minimum. Failure to adhere to this requirement will result in termination.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems.
  • Experience using ESRI mapping software.
  • Advanced skills in operating a computer using standard or customized software applications.
  • Ability to handle the frequent interruptions and deadlines that contribute to the complexity of the work.

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes.
