SUMMARY

Hennepin Healthcare has a current opening for a Ultrasound Technologist in our Ultrasound department. This part-time (0.5 FTE) will work rotating weekdays 9:30am to 6:00pm and one Sunday a month from 10:00am to 6:30pm.

A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available for eligible external candidates (contract/temporary workers and former employees returning to HHS within one year are ineligible).

Performs ultrasound scanning procedures. Reports preliminary findings to the Radiologist. Takes anatomical pictures to demonstrate organs. Participates in the education of healthcare providers.


RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations
  • Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images
  • Uses independent judgement during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathological findings
  • Analyses sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician
  • Coordinates work schedule with departmental Supervisor and/or scheduling desk to assure workload coverage
  • Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer's care
  • Assists with the daily operations of the ultrasound department
  • Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area, and maintains adequate supplies
  • Establishes and maintains ethical working relationships and good rapport with all interrelating hospital referral or commercial agencies
  • Coordinate with other staff to assure appropriate patient care is provided
  • Provides ultrasound skill training for ultrasound technologist students and Radiology Residents


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Associate's degree in ultrasound technology and a graduate of an accredited School of Ultrasound Technology by CAAHEP
  • Certification or certification eligible by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). If "eligible", employee must be certified within one year of hire
  • Maintains minimum CE credits as mandated by the accrediting body ARDMS
  • Possess current CPR certification or obtain within 4 months of employment


Preferred Qualifications:



  • One+ years of ultrasound experience or internship at HCMC
  • Proficient in Abdomen, OB/GYN and Small Parts
