Job Overview

This position is primarily responsible for teaching and service to the Executive MHA, within the School of Social Work and College of Allied Health Sciences. Teaching and service responsibilities include, but are not limited to, primary instruction of courses using an online delivery modality; course development and regular updates/revisions; participation in student recruitment, retention, and admissions activities; participation in program and committee activities including, accreditation requirements, faculty advising, and other activities as assigned by the Director. While student instruction is central to this position, service and scholarly activities are also required consistent with the mission, accreditation standards, faculty performance evaluation, and the reappointment and promotion criteria of the University, College, and School.

This is a 12-month on campus position.

About the Department

The University of Cincinnati online Executive Master of Health Administration Program (MHA) is searching for a full-time, educator track faculty member who will contribute to the department's teaching, service, and research missions, with primary emphasis on teaching and service.

Founded in 2011, the UC Executive MHA Program is a CAHME-accredited, fully online, asynchronous program with over 800 graduates from around the country. Located in the College of Allied Health Sciences, School of Social Work, the Executive MHA program offers a highly supportive, collegial, and friendly academic culture. There are special opportunities for collaborations with highly regarded, local health entities such as the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati Veterans Affairs, and UC Health. There are several collaborations with the Colleges of Business, Pharmacy, Medicine, Law and Nursing.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct and teach assigned graduate and/or undergraduate-level courses and seminars.
  • Evaluate student coursework and competency attainment.
  • Attend meetings, participate in governance, prepare materials for teaching.
  • Serve as a career development faculty adviser for student cohort.
  • Serve on program, department, college and/or university committees.
  • Engage in other activities ancillary to or in support of his or her responsibilities.
  • Render service to the professional or lay community which is relevant to the individual's academic specialty.
  • Review, and where necessary, respond in a timely manner to all University-related communications.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Education

DHA, DrPH, PhD, DBA, DBH, or equivalent terminal degree in health administration or closely related field.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least two (2) years of teaching experience in an online environment.
  • Strong background in advising and mentoring students.
  • Current knowledge and skill in the use of computer technology and educational learning management systems
  • Strong organizational skills; strong interpersonal skills including communication, problem solving, counseling, conflict management, and follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Interest and ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to assist with tasks assigned by School and Program Director
  • Demonstrated commitment to working in a team

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Familiarity with CAHME accreditation standards.
  • Active in professional societies and activities at local, state, and/or national levels.
  • Demonstrated student mentorship and advising experience.
  • Content expertise in health administration subjects.
  • Experience developing new courses, or substantial revisions, at the graduate level.
