Job Summary
The Director of Student Success works in partnership with and as part of the Jonsson School Office of Undergraduate Affairs. The Director leads the development and implementation of high-impact student academic support programs across the undergraduate experience with the goal of increasing student engagement, persistence, resilience, engineering identity, and graduation rates. This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Student Success and works closely with the Director of Advising and the Assistant Dean of Assessment.
Minimum Education and Experience
PhD and 2 years development and implementation of new student success initiatives;
Master's Degree and 4 years development and implementation of new student success initiatives.
Preferred Education and Experience

  • Ph.D. preferred; Five years of student success program leadership experience.
  • Two years of leadership experience in developing and implementing high-impact, student success initiatives.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, public speaking, organizational skills, and proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, Teams).
  • Excellent leadership, supervisory, planning, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative while also functioning effectively as a team member.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement academic and student success interventions, workshops, and other programs aimed at facilitating the transition and success of ECS undergraduate students.
  • Develop programming that supports the academic recovery and personal goals of undergraduate students.
  • Monitor student academic performance and their persistence towards graduation and preparing and presenting reports.
  • Develop trainings aimed at educating student leaders, faculty, and staff about the populations supported by the office and they ways in which they can support student transition.
  • Provides leadership on student organizations and other engagement activities, including programming support for First Generation and low-income students.
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student workers and other staff who provide academic, college, and personal support to ECS Undergraduate Students.
  • Develop and manage programming intended to increase student engagement and sense of belonging.
  • Assess the impact of programs for continuous improvement and goal achievement.
  • Work effectively and collaborate with various campus offices, administrators, faculty, and staff.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Participate in student recruiting/outreach events when needed.
  • Propose and manage area budget.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures.
  • Serve on Jonsson School and University committees (admissions continuity, scholarship).
  • Provide presentations on services and opportunities for engagement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REMOTE WORK FOR FUTURE AVAILABILITY - After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. May be required to use personal computer and other standard office equipment. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
