Summary:
Under general supervision but according to established policies and procedures dumps linen washes and dries linen.

Responsibilities:
Using the soil system computer the Washroom Aide will attain and have a level of knowledge of all computer function keys in order to operate and load state of the art industrial washers accurately safely and to maximum capacity.

Using the washer personal computer pad the washroom Aide will attain and have a level of knowledge of all computer function keys in order to operate and advance the state of the art industrial washer through all its various steps and cycles to complete all loads of wash. The use of the washer personal computer pad must be performed in conjunction with the soil system computer.

The Washroom Aide will monitor the washer personal computer pad screen and become familiar with all the readings to ensure each wash load is operating efficiently (water level steam drain and all chemical injections).

Accurately records manual loads of linen washed and dried on a daily shift log.

Loads "rewash" linen into washers and dryers and tags loads identifying the loads as "rewash" through the entire processing cycle.

Accurately measures the required amount of Oxalic Acid and adds it to the "rewash" loads

Cleans lint baskets on dryers and drain screens in the trough under washers.

Manually unloads 600 pounds of sheets from washers to avoid tangling in the baskets (lays sheets as flat as possible). Also unloads all other linen items using the washer to turn out the linen into dryer slings and manually separates linen between dryer slings into empty slings when slings become full while unloading the washer.

Inspects cleanliness of each washer load to ensure a good clean quality product.

Uses electrical hoist systems to lift dryer loads to dryers.

Hangs full dryer bags on storage rails using the hoist system. This operation is used to free up washroom floor space and dryer slings to maximize wash load production.

Dries specific linen items on specific formulas using the personal computer pad on each dryer. The Washroom Aide will monitor the dryer personal computer pad screen and become familiar with the temperature reading in order to maximize drying efficiency.

Accurately records all dryer loads onto a log for each dryer.

Transports linen via basket to the laundry finish area. Consolidates near empty linen baskets into other near empty baskets freeing up additional baskets and space. Returns empty linen baskets to the washroom. Cleans the bottom of finish baskets free of debris.

Performs the work of others as determined by Group Leader Supervisor or Manager.

Maintains work area in a clean and safe manner.

Maintains and utilizes equipment in a clean and safe manner.

Using appropriate safety measures switches chemical feed lines for washing chemicals from empty to full drums when needed.

Note: A Washroom Aide can be asked by a supervisor or group leader to perform LA -1 or LA-2 work with no reduction in pay.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

Read and write English

No formal training required but ability to follow instructions necessary.

EXPERIENCE:

Two months on the job training to learn operation of washers (computerized) dryers and other miscellaneous equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Exposure to lint extreme temperatures of hot and cold in the work area.

Continuous standing walking heavy lifting carrying and pushing.

Physical ability to lift heavy loads of wet and dry linen.

Physical ability to operate industrial sized dryers
