Senior Laboratory Technician

***This position requires an active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret clearance to be considered. ***

Provide laboratory support by performing next generation sequencing, real time PCR, Nanostring, basic/advanced sample processing, microbiology, and other molecular diagnostic techniques. Execute scientific studies for PIs with minimal supervision, analyze and provide summarized data, maintain laboratory equipment and suite integrity, and facilitate execution of mission critical research. BPRP enrollment is required and must be held and maintained.

Laboratory Technician V Sr Biomarker Technical Support Responsibilities Include:

• Assists in the development of and independently execute protocols for biomarker verification.
• Performs sample processing and experiments at BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4.
• Performs next generation sequencing, Nanostring immunological and inflammatory panels, Luminex-based platforms, miRNA quantification.
• Conducts experiments for detection of etiologic agents within animal and clinical samples.
• Performs highly detailed clinical sample testing in support of priority BSL-2, BSL-3, and/or BSL-4 animal studies or human clinical sample surveillance studies.
• Performs laboratory work requiring expertise in small animal handling.
• Trains new laboratory members in BSL-2, BSL-3, and/or BSL-4 in project-specific laboratory techniques and methods.
• Contributes to the collection, management, and analysis of Biomarker Data for assigned projects.
• Consolidates and analyzes biomarker data in support of technical reports, presentations, and manuscripts.
• Present protocols and data generated at weekly meetings.
• Authors, reviews, and revises Biomarker SOPs.
• Assists with preparation of technical reports and manuscripts for publication.
• Contributes to a Biomarker Quarter and Annual Reports for associate projects.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Laboratory Technician V Sr Biomarker Technical Support Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

• Master's degree or the equivalent in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Biology, or a related field and 5+ years lab experience. Background in Pharmacology preferred.
• Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
• Must be experienced with both in vitro and in vivo studies with preferred experience in BSL-2, BSL-3, and/or BSL-4 biocontainment labs.
• Experience working with clinical and non-clinical samples required.
• Expertise in small animal handling preferred.
• Experience with Molecular diagnostic techniques, including the following:
  • DNA/mRNA purification.
  • Nanotrap Concentration.
  • Nanostring immunological and inflammatory panels.
  • Luminex-based platforms.
  • miRNA quantification.
  • QIAgen EZ1, MagNA Pure, and manual column-based techniques.
  • Next Generation Sequencing.
  • Real-time PCR.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Multi-task in a high paced environment.
• Works well with others.
• Prior experience in BSL-2, BSL-3, and/or BSL-4 biocontainment labs preferred.
• Ability obtain and maintain BPRP status.
• US Citizenship is required.
• Ability to a pass a US Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for participation in the BPRP.
