Aerospace MRO Purchasing Specialist

Overview:

Ensure all parts needed for MRO operations are available or acquired in a timely manner to support rapid MRO Turn-Around Time to customer. Provide MRO Administration team with accurate lead time and cost information. Coordinate and support purchasing activities including request for proposals, purchase orders, receiving discrepancies, invoice discrepancies, supplier development actions, new supplier qualification support, supplier returns and other supply chain management support as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Plans and execute purchases as required based on system generated requisitions. Including: obtaining purchase order acknowledgements change orders, amendments, and other related documentation from suppliers.
  • Maintains accurate records of all purchasing actions, in compliance with company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Analyzes inventory levels, demand/spend profiles and lead times for components involving purchasing decisions including market analysis
  • Responsible to ensure that suppliers meet targets for quality, delivery, and total cost of acquisition of the products and services the company requires by identify opportunities for cost and schedule improvements.
  • Maintain inventory and re-order levels utilizing dynamic usage history as a management tool.
  • Coordinate and administer MRO subcontract and outside process procurement activities with Vendors insuring on time delivery.
  • Coordinate and administer MRO overhaul exchange parts program. Work closely with Quality, Purchasing and Engineering personnel to insure efficient movement of MRO parts through receiving process.
  • Review Shop Evaluation and create work order quotes for customer Service.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Computer skills -- General MS-Excel, Word.
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment.


  • Advanced computer and purchasing software skills


  • Quantum software experience required.
  • Follow up and monitor status on open purchase orders.


  • Procurement experience associated with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), AS9100, Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation (DFAR) and Government procurement regulations preferred.
  • Experience purchasing complex aerospace parts (machine/composite/sheet metal parts preferred) required.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret purchase requisitions, RFQ's, and supplier contracts.
  • Knowledge and understanding of leading purchasing practices required.
  • Thorough working knowledge of purchasing policies, processes and procedures.


  • Exceptional negotiation skills. Advanced customer interface skills.
  • Ability to establish relations with a wide range of personalities, cultural backgrounds and educational levels.

Education and Experience Requirements: 1-3 years of related experience in purchasing position or some combination of education and experience is possible depending on experience. High school diploma or equivalent.

Reasoning Skills:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form, commissions.
