Overview:

The Laboratory Protection Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking to hire a Team Lead to lead the Security Systems Team in designing, developing, and maintaining the Laboratory's Access Control, Intrusion Detection, Video Assessment and Surveillance systems, automated barriers, and the supporting network and computing infrastructure. In this role, you will provide technical security services to ORNL in order to protect assets and ensure a safe and secure environment.Additionally, the Security Systems Team is responsible for the management and oversight of the various systems, oversight of design and installation, as well as interfacing with local craft supervision, other prime contractors, the DOE ORNL Site Office, and other agencies within the Oak Ridge Reservation.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Security Systems team leveraging the expertise of the staff and integrating activities.

  • Design, develops and implements scalable solution for security system installations, upgrades, repairs, and change outs.

  • Research and tests new security technologies, systems, equipment, components, and products.

  • Provides recommendation for technology enhancements and improvements and perform due diligence in assessing new technology solutions, including cost and budget preparation.

  • Oversight of all aspects of the Laboratory access control systems which includes planning, design, installation and maintenance for new and existing activities.

  • Establishes and implements effective, predictable and measurable processes and procedures.

  • Develops and delivers progress reports, proposals, requirements documentations and presentations.

  • Oversees systems integration functions, working with and providing direction to both internal and external organizations.

  • Suggests areas for improvements in internal processes by remaining on the forefront of emerging industry best practices on security systems.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A BS degree in a technical field plus 8 years of relevant experience in Security Systems.

  • A minimum 3 years' leading a successful team.

  • Strong knowledge of application design, development, and testing techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must be organized, self-motivated, and be able to work with minimal guidance.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to work with numerous cognizant security agencies, customers, and senior managers.

  • Ability to work on and prioritize a wide variety of tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to handle complex designs, accuracy, and ability to pay attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Additionally, the applicant should demonstrate strong computer skills especially in all Microsoft Office and Visio applications.

  • Active DOE security clearance.

Special Requirements:

  • Q clearance:This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.

  • Visa Sponsorship:Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
