Your Role at Baxter

The Evaluation Tech is responsible for troubleshooting and preventative maintenance evaluations of the Spectrum IV pump. The person in this role will compile, analyze, troubleshoot, interpret and document results into the system of record.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Follow defined Quality Management Systems, all applicable written procedures, review maintenance records and complete all documentation as required and in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
  • Adhere to all environmental, health and safety standard operating procedures and policies, including any department specific requirements.
  • Maintains a continuous flow on the Servicing line, working independently and as part of a team, to achieve process yield results.
  • Examine, test, repair and perform troubleshooting of medical devices to assignable cause, using instruments such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, hipot tester, pressure gauges, etc.
  • Applies technical knowledge to interpret information, test for accuracy and discern patterns in order to determine root cause of an issue.
  • Writes clear and concise technical evaluation summaries from troubleshooting analysis.
  • Operate and monitor UV cleaning equipment and escalate issues as needed.
  • May rotate to repair and test areas as needed.
  • May perform inspection duties, as required by required procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring

  • High School diploma or GED and a minimum of 3 years of experience in troubleshooting, problem solving and/or analyzing electro-mechanical devices is required.
  • For candidates with an Associate's degree or higher in a non-related field, 1 year of experience in troubleshooting, problem solving and/or analyzing electro-mechanical devices is required.
  • For candidates with an Associate's degree in Engineering, Biomedical Equipment Technology or Computer science, no experience is required.
  • Experience working with medical devices and/or working in an FDA regulated industry is preferred. Must have good written and verbal communication skills (English) and the ability to follow written instructions.
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports to sufficiently capture and defend evaluation findings.
  • Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team, demonstrating teamwork and cooperation.
  • Ability to perform basic statistical analysis from device history logs, read diagrams and drawings and make repair recommendations.
  • Ability to document data accurately, following Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Must have good judgement, positive attitude and a high level of initiative.
  • Must have proficient computer skills with ability to learn new systems, enter data and routinely toggle between various application systems.
  • Ability to manually perform basic mathematical calculations.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand and walk the production line(s) for much of the workday. Additionally, this employee is required to work at line workstations as a fill in as needed. The employee must have good hand to eye coordination and dexterity to assemble products.
  • Physical Requirements: Dynamic Lifting capability: Must have the ability to lift up to 35 pounds from floor to waist, lift 23 pounds to shoulder and lift 2 pounds from shoulder to overhead.

This is a servicing environment very similar to a manufacturing environment regulated by the FDA and many other work rules to prevent damage to the product we manufacture. Some of those work rules include but are not limited to:

  • Wear a static protective smock and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times while in the designated work areas.
  • Wearing a ground wrist strap and plugging that wrist strap into the working table.
  • Working in close proximity to other employees.
  • Working in an environment that is temperature and humidity controlled.
