Who We Are
Founded in 1965, UC Irvine is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities and is ranked among the nation's top 10 public universities by U.S. News & World Report. The campus has produced five Nobel laureates and is known for its academic achievement, premier research, innovation and anteater mascot. Led by Chancellor Howard Gillman, UC Irvine has more than 36,000 students and offers 224 degree programs. It's located in one of the world's safest and most economically vibrant communities and is Orange County's second-largest employer, contributing $7 billion annually to the local economy and $8 billion statewide. The Institute for Clinical and Translational Science (ICTS) is housed under the Office of Research on the UCI Campus. The UCI ICTS is one of 62 Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSAs) funded by the National Institutes of Health in the US. The ICTS mission is to improve health and healthcare by catalyzing translational research across the spectrum and by advancing the science of translation. To accomplish this mission, we provide a wide range of support services to researchers across the spectrum from basic research to population health research and everything in between. Our goal is simple: to accelerate discoveries from the lab and translate them into life-altering medical care and public health interventions. The Evaluation and Tracking Unit is comprised of four full-time staff who work under the direct supervision of a faculty researcher. The Evaluation and Tracking Team collects, analyzes, and reports on continuing quality improvement data that are used to inform programmatic decisions across the ICTS and to fulfill reporting obligations. Your Role on the Team Reporting to the Director of Tracking and Evaluation for the Institute of Translational and Clinical Science (ICTS), with additional support and oversight from the Director of Informatics for the ICTS, the incumbent will work collaboratively with the ICTS's current applications programmer to maintain and further develop ICTS applications and services. The incumbent will extend the existing service request and tracking portal to add new modules, including adding features to the ICTS Membership database, maintain and modify legacy software that support ICTS processes for receiving and reviewing funding applications, and develop new applications to support clinical research and future program evaluation needs. These duties include the development of web applications and services using database-driven web programming, management of database and web servers, and the use of various APIs to interact with related software platforms, such as REDCap.
