This recruitment is for both Temporary Building Maintenance Worker positions and Temporary Senior Building Maintenance Worker positions through UCI's internal temporary staffing service. This position can be based out of the UC Irvine campus or any UCI Health facility throughout Orange County and Southern Los Angeles County.


Your Role on the Team

Temporary Building Maintenance Worker (Temporary BMW)

Covered under University series concept / job specification for classification 8213.Under supervision, incumbents perform unskilled building maintenance tasks on a regular and continuing basis or, under close supervision, perform as trainees within the series. Assignments are routine in nature, requiring limited judgment. Normally receives detailed instructions on all newly assigned work. Performs ongoing routine assignments with general supervision.

Temporary Senior Building Maintenance Worker (Temporary Sr. BMW)

Covered under University series concept / job specification for classification 8212. Under supervision, incumbents perform semi-skilled building maintenance tasks on a regular and continuing basis in one or more of the trades. Works on operational and / or procedural assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving procedural issues. Makes recommendations to improve processes and / or procedures.

Pay Range: $21.01 - $24.47

Required:

  • Temp BMW: Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Temp BMW: Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Temp BMW: Basic ability to perform unskilled building maintenance work.
  • Temp Sr. BMW: Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Temp Sr. BMW: Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Temp Sr. BMW: Demonstrated ability to perform semi-skilled building maintenance work.
  • 1-3 years Temp BMW: Completing minor repairs, fabrication, and renovations in carpentry, electrical, and plumbing
  • 3-5 years Temp Sr. BMW: Completing minor repairs, fabrication, and renovations in carpentry, electrical, and plumbing
  • Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions in English

TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT

This is a temporary employment recruitment reporting to the UCI Temporary Employment Services (TES) Department. Interviewing and hiring is based on internal hiring needs and how well the candidate's experience matches the assignment requirements.Certaintemporary assignments may require clearance of a health physical or require a valid California Driver's License for driving university vehicles.

The majority of our temporary positions are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. We also have occasional part-time, weekend, and evening hours available, depending on the assignment. Comprehensive benefits options are also available for temporary employees, including paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave.
