Position Summary

The department of Emergency Medicine is looking to hire two student employees to work as Medical Scribes at UNM Hospital and Sandoval Regional Medical Center.

The students would analyze patient medical records to assure that
documentation by providers conforms to legal and procedural requirements.
Assists physicians and medical providers in accurately documenting patient
encounters. This includes but, not limited to, documenting key portions of the
medical note include the History of Present Illness, Review of Systems, Past
Medical History, and the Physical exam as directed by the provider. Interacts
with physicians and other providers to ensure proper coding of patient charts,
maximized efficiency, and optimization of patient throughput.

Scribes play a critical role
in enhancing patient care by assisting healthcare providers in documenting
patient encounters accurately and efficiently. Will work various shifts
including overnights at Sandoval Regional Medical Center and UNMH departments.
Opportunities to work with a variety of clinicians, including personnel with
ADA accommodations.


Minimum Qualifications

Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.



Preferred Qualifications

Applicants with experience in PowerChart and/or Cerner FirstNet preferred.
