JOB TITLE:

Coordinator, Student Welfare

JOB PURPOSE:

Primary responsibilities of this position will be to support all students toward appropriate self-care, self-management, and self-advocacy. The Care Coordinator works with students experiencing varying levels of crisis and concern including, but not limited to, academic, personal, financial, mental and physical health, and family issues. This position is highly collaborative and plays an active role in non-clinical student case management, developing and implementing both long- and short-term success plans.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide student case management and intervention strategies by addressing and responding to referrals of students in distress through UW CARES referral system, Behavioral Health Services, etc.
  • Coordinate and connect students with health services, academic support, and other campus and community resources to promote overall well being through effective case management and collaboration with campus resources.
  • Offer personalized support and guidance to students navigating challenges related to basic needs, mental health, personal crises, and obstacles hindering academic progress.
  • Maintain regular communication with Residential Life staff regarding students of concern in on-campus housing; collaborate with team on case management and coordinated care.
  • Develop and execute initiatives, workshops, and outreach programs aimed at fostering student well-being, resilience, and self-advocacy skills.
  • Maintain records to ensure all correspondence, notes, action items and rationale are accurately documented; Uphold confidential student records, meticulously documenting services rendered, referrals extended, and outcomes achieved.
  • Support department in the process of regularly assessing and evaluating impact of support services relative to student persistence and success.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Engage actively in multidisciplinary teams, committees, and task forces dedicated to student retention, crisis intervention, and emergency response.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or related field from an accredited institution required.

Experience: At least 4 years work-related experience.

Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements: None

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience working with students of concern/care teams and behavioral health issues.
  • Experience in case management including demonstrated documentation and tracking skills, follow-up on projects and assignments.
  • Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related field is preferred.
