Data Scientist - Asset Management (Hybrid)

Data Leadership

  • Collaborate with Securian AM Product Team, Enterprise Technology and Enterprise Data & Analytics to drive development of future-state data management solutions for asset management function.
  • Under the direction of the Securian AM Product Manager, lead the implementation and maintenance of asset management data store reporting layer, including driving user adoption and empowerment.
  • Define and lead strategic data initiatives in alignment with SAM technology roadmap
  • Develop and champion data standards for Data Stewardship Committee

Business Partnership

  • Collaborate with Securian AM Product team to support data components of key projects and to address data related issues among the investment teams and operations functions
  • Work directly with analysts and portfolio managers to define and document data-related issues / needs, scoping, and ideate and deliver data solutions agreed upon by the business.
  • Enhance Securian AM business intelligence reporting and analytics capabilities utilizing enterprise tools (Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)
  • Support Product Manager with data requirements and system analysis for implementation of modern data store
  • Drive Securian AM AI/ML projects from Business Case development, requirements support, and eDNA partnership
  • Partner with Data Governance Manager to address data needs identified through Data Stewardship Committee (DSC)
  • Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of investment processes to support client product development and business strategies.
  • Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize business operations, including investment team processes

Vendor Data Support

  • Lead the day-to-day data operations of the Bloomberg environment in partnership with the Securian AM Front Office Product Team.
  • Partner with key vendors to address data issues, optimize system data environment, and support data road mapping items

Qualifications:

  • 4 year degree in STEM discipline, finance, economics, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of insurance industry and/or asset management operating model.
  • Previous experience working with data & technology solutions for insurance and/or asset management.
  • Demonstrated understanding of cloud computing ecosystems, particularly Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Demonstrated understanding of a variety of financial services data and modeling systems, including but not limited to: Bloomberg, FactSet, Intex, Clearwater, Precision LM.
  • Strong knowledge of at least one programming language commonly used in quantitative finance (e.g. C/C++, Python, or Matlab).
  • Proficient in SQL with an understanding of database design and implementation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS Certification in Solutions Architecture, Data Analytics, or Machine Learning.
  • Graduate degree in a STEM discipline, finance, economics, or a related field is a plus.

The estimated base pay range for this job is:

$84,000.00 - $155,000.00

Pay may vary depending on job-related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc. More information on base pay and incentive pay (if applicable) can be discussed with a with a member of the Securian Financial Talent Acquisition team.
