MEDICAL STAFF ADMINISTRATION
Job Summary Responsible for the credentialing and privileging operations for UCSF Health Saint Francis and St. Mary's Hospital medical staff. Recruits, selects and develops new/existing talent to support the continued credentialing and privileging in a high volume, fast-paced environment. Oversees appropriate application processing of new and existing providers, and ongoing competency review processes for providers who render patient care at UCSF Saint Francis and St. Mary's Hospitals and clinics. Facilitates and oversees monthly approval process and appropriate follow-up of recommendations & approvals through regularly held committee review bodies. Applies functional knowledge and development of medical staff credentialing and privileging standards/policies and operations to advise and collaborate with UCSF Health Saint Francis and St. Mary's leadership in accomplishing strategic initiatives.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $94,400 - $201,800 (Annual Rate). Department Description The Office of Medical Affairs and Governance provides credentialing services for the UCSF Health System and is also responsible for privileging, governance, and health plan enrollment for the Health System, including the Community Hospitals division (UCSF Health St. Mary's and UCSF Health Saint Francis Hospitals).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related area or four years of equivalent experience/training.
- Four years of relevant work experience in a similar work environment (i.e. Leader, Director, Manager, or Supervisory role)
- Expert knowledge of TJC, NCQA, CMS, DHS, DMHC, ACCME, and other applicable accreditation/regulatory requirements.
- Strong knowledge of external regulations, credentialing best practices, and clinical operations to implement in an acute care setting. Knowledge of Human Resource policies and processes.
- Strong strategic skills to develop long-range plans, and abilities to solve complex, wide-reaching problems when no precedent exists.
- Ability to exercise professional judgment in handling sensitive and confidential issues with discretion. Demonstrated sensitivity to political situations and confidential issues.
- Knowledge of organization structure and change management skills to streamline systems and design processes to improve the efficiency of operations.
- Strong collaboration skills, and ability to build and maintain relationships with physicians, clinical department heads, and senior management.
- Strong management and conflict resolution skills to effectively lead and motivate others. Successful background working with peers, patients, multidisciplinary team members, executives, assigned staff, and representatives of regulatory agencies.
- Skills to consistently interact with all members of the organization in ways that enhance understanding, respect, cooperation, and problem-solving.
- Advanced ability to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify multiple options for resolution.
- Strong knowledge of the approaches and methods of process improvement, including planning, setting priorities, systematic performance assessment, implementation of process improvements based on such assessment, and maintaining achieved improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) certification is preferred and required within 18 months of hire.
- Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) is preferred if a candidate does not hold CPMSM certification
- Experience in working in a medical staff office of a community hospital.
