SET THE COURSE

The Quality Control and Vendor Manager (Garment Manufacturing), under the direction of the VP of Production, is responsible for collaborating with overseas manufacturers to oversee and ensure quality control during all stages of garment production. This role involves developing and implementing quality management strategies that align with the company's goals and standards. The Quality Control and Vendor Manager will establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors, ensuring adherence to product specifications, quality requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to the on-time delivery of high-quality products and the overall success of the organization.

BE THE ISLAND GUIDE

Quality Control

  • Lead a team of quality control professionals across Hong Kong and China, offering guidance and support to ensure high standards in quality control. Proficiency in Mandarin is preferred, though Cantonese is also welcome.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive quality assurance strategies and procedures to enhance quality and ensure compliance with Tommy Bahama's standards.
  • Drive ongoing improvement efforts to boost product quality, minimize defects, and optimize production processes.
  • Oversee regular quality audits and inspections, both internally and at supplier locations, to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications.
  • Ensure production processes are controlled and monitored for quality and compliance.
  • Take charge of and oversee quality assurance systems and inspection protocols to ensure consistent adherence to standards and specifications during the production process.
  • Establish and reinforce relationships with suppliers to ensure that products and manufacturing processes meet safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Work closely with the production team to identify and review potential problem areas of the product before production startup, proactively offering solutions.
  • Collaborate with Production, Design, and the supply chain team to resolve quality issues, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate records of quality control activities, prepare detailed reports, and analyze quality data to inform decision-making.
  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure they meet quality expectations and assist in developing quality improvement plans as needed.
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for new software tools and manage the rollout and adoption across the team and vendors.
  • Prepare and present vendor performance reports to the cross-functional team.
  • Interact with the Technical Design (TD), Product Development (PD), Sourcing, and Production teams, providing feedback and recommendations for process improvements.
  • Manage daily operations of the QA team, holding regular meetings, setting work priorities, and arranging the QA weekly audit schedule. Initiate pre-production meetings.
  • Ensure the QA team performs quality audits effectively.
  • Manage all findings and results issued by the QA team.

Vendor Management:

  • Partner with production team to identify new vendors and support the onboarding process
  • Collaborate with the PD Sourcing and Production team on vendor assessments and seasonal capacity planning.
  • Liaison between garment vendor and material suppliers for bulk production issues or concerns.
  • Maintain a suitable and efficient supplier base by continuous evaluation of supplier's capabilities, capacities and working performance.
  • Review existing quality process and production workflow systems within key vendors and provide enhanced process.
  • Working with the key vendors, implement and control effective quality management
  • Supply chain risk assessment
  • Manage regular touch base with Vendor leadership to understand opportunities in production processes and new industry expertise.
  • Partner with Cooperate Responsibility team to onboard the suppliers on sustainability and traceability projects.
  • Communicate and coordinate with suppliers to achieve sustainability and traceability goals

Management and Leadership:

  • Build strong relationships at management level and above with our vendors and cross functional partners
  • Lead and participate in communication with cross functional and internal teams regularly sharing knowledge, hind sighting aiding to better alignment.
  • Create an environment that encourages associate development, involvement and commitment to support business strategy
  • Manage and oversee attracting, hiring, coaching, retaining, and motivating a world class team. Monitor and evaluate the performance and contributions of direct reports and staff in attaining business goals and objectives and provide feedback and development opportunities as appropriate.
  • Oversee team to complete all deliverables on time according to production calendars.
  • Perform other duties as needed to help support the overall business.

ESSENTIALS FOR LIFE IN PARADISE

  • Bachelors' degree in fashion design, business or other related field.
  • Generally, 8+ years of experience in product development, sourcing or production related positions.
  • Strong communication skills in English & Mandarin. Preference for Mandarin but would consider Cantonese. Both in written and oral.
  • Experience working directly with Asia resources is a plus.
  • Excellent understanding of garment production process
  • Strong product knowledge in apparel/retail industry.
  • Strong MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Flex PLM experience preferred.
  • Blue Cherry experience preferred.
  • Nighttime calls to either vendors or team will be necessary.
  • Business travel overseas is required 30% of the year.

Multiple factors will vary the applicable rate of pay for this role, including an individual's experience, knowledge, and skillset, as well as work location and available budget.

Pay Range: $102,000 - $170,000 salaried
