SENIOR BUYER

SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN

As a member of the purchasing team, the Senior Buyer will be responsible forsupporting global purchasing initiatives, including but not limited to material cost reductions, strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations, and development of supply contracts for metal fastener purchases. The job holder will be responsible for all tactical aspects of supply chain procurement methodologies required to support plant and customer requirements.

The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:



  • Leads development and implementation of cost saving programs
  • Manages sourcing selection of material with best in class cost and quality
  • Negotiates long term agreements
  • Develops strategies to achieve current and long-term results
  • Has familiarity with commercial terms and total cost management concepts
  • Ability to work in a highly productive, constantly changing environment
  • Key competencies for success in position include:

    • Negotiating principles/skills
    • High level of integrity
    • Priority setting and time management
    • Action oriented I produces results


  • Strong written communication and presentation skills
  • Conducts necessary visits to Lear or supplier plants (<10%)
  • May train and guide the work of Buyers
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint


Your Qualifications:



  • BS/BA or equivalent experience
  • 3 years of work experience
  • Automotive experience a plus but not required
