Overview
Buildings & General Services (BGS) at the State of Vermont is seeking an experienced leader for the position of BGS District Facilities Supervisor within the Operations & Management Division. This position will be responsible for the daily supervision of maintenance and custodial staff at state buildings, grounds, and correctional facilities in the greater Burlington area. Travel between these facilities may be required and will utilize a state owned and/or a privately owned vehicle. This is a full-time position, and the hours are Monday through Friday, 6am to 2:30pm. Position requires a valid driver's license and successful completion of multiple background checks. BGS is a diverse organization with over 340 employees serving state agencies and departments within state government. BGS provides the facilities services required for all state agencies and departments to accomplish their mission. Duties are performed at State buildings including Correctional and Psychiatric Facilities, Courthouses, Probation & Parole and State Police Barracks. Incumbents may encounter harassment or hostile behavior and must be able to respond in a calm and professional manner. Contact with inmates may be anticipated. Manual dexterity may be needed to operate equipment and use tools. Incumbents should be able to lift heavy weights up to 75 pounds, and work in cramped, wet, or poorly ventilated areas. Requires possession of a valid driver's license. May require emergency response to calls outside of regular work hours. Some potential for physical injury may be present. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent AND four (4) years or more of experience in building maintenance and repair work INCLUDING three (3) or more years at the journeyman level AND two (2) years or more in a supervisory or lead worker role. Total Compensation
