Precollegiate Program

Job Description

Responsibilities
To promote college access services, coordinate and evaluate precollegiate projects/programs in cooperation with university, state, federal, county and local agencies and organizations. Provide general staff assistance and perform office work of moderate complexity. Individual must be extremely organized and have the ability to work with a diverse group of students and parents in the St Louis community.

Duties Include:

  • Assist with precollegiate research studies for agencies and organizations to identify areas of problems and needs and program enhancements; assist with developing and conducting surveys and analyzing results.
  • Assist with coordination of communication efforts of the program by assisting with development of marketing materials such as: brochures, newsletters, flyers, booklets and other publications for internal and external use.
  • Represent the University's Office of Precollegiate Programs at recruiting activities conducted on-campus, middle and high schools and other external community events.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of aids, awards, loans, scholarships and other forms of financial assistance available for college-going students.
  • Organize on-campus precollegiate activities to introduce middle and high school students to the college campus.
  • Compile and distribute precollegiate recruiting material to prospective students, parents and school administrators.
  • Develop curriculum and conduct college and career preparation courses and/or workshops.
  • Schedule and/or assist with events, functions, conferences and projects which may encompass meetings, supplies and/or marketing materials.
  • Maintain favorable liaison rapport and work closely with middle and high school counselors.
  • Assist with maintaining an effective college-career resource library purposed for program participants and community partners.
  • Assist with planning and implementing academic year and summer program activities.
  • Plan and develop ideas and coordinate special precollegiate activities.
  • Prepare written reports, summarizing procedures and conclusions.
  • Assist with supervision of student interns and federal work study students.
  • Collaborate with school administrators to implement After School programs and monitor afterschool club activities.
  • Assist students and parents in the areas of career and college preparation, general college admissions processes and financial aid.

Shift

Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm, some evenings, select Saturdays, and some early morning hours for the Academies.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience in program coordination, preferably in college access, precollegiate programs, or youth development.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including first-generation college students and underserved communities.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Pay commensurate with education and experience.
Hiring Range: $44,262 - $48,000 Annual
Grade: GGS-009
