COME AND BE EXCEPTIONAL! JOIN THE BMC EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT NURSING TEAM!

Looking for a chance for growth and acquisition of new nursing knowledge and skills? Our Adult Emergency Department Nurse Transition Program provides experienced registered nurses the opportunity to transition to a position in the Adult Emergency Department. The program will provide experienced nurses the opportunity to solidify the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to provide care in our Emergency Department.

Throughout the Experienced Nurse Transition Program, we will emphasize the application of nursing knowledge and skills required for success as a transitioned Emergency Room nurse.The program offers focused, multidisciplinary classroom training, as well as a customized precepted clinical experience. Both the didactic and clinical components will emphasize the skills and knowledge base you will need to progress through the competency based orientation.

During the transition program, you will be paid your hourly rate. At the conclusion of the program, you will be placed in your final position per your offer letter.

POSITION: Transition RN Residency

DEPARTMENT: Adult Emergency Department

REGULAR SCHEDULE: Nights, 7:00 pm - 7 am, every third weekend, every other holiday

ORIENTATION SCHEDULE: 36 Hours, TBD with every third weekend (must be available to work any shift, including weekends, until the completion of training, also includes 4 hours of paid ENA learning modules)

Work full-time for 12 weeks in varying shifts. Selected candidates must make a two-year commitment to the unit that invests in training them.

SCHEDULING SUMMARY

  • This schedule provides maximum exposure to the new clinical environment, colleagues, and patient populations.
  • Each nurse is responsible in collaboration with their preceptor and clinical nurse educator to devise weekly goals.
  • Basic computer proficiency is inclusive of the ability to access, enter, and interpret computerized data/information.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to facilitate communication with various healthcare team members, patients, and families.
  • Organizational skills to set priorities and efficiently complete assigned work.
  • Multilingual skills (beyond that of English) in languages appropriate to the patient populations served by the Medical Center preferred.
  • Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification is preferred for certain practice areas.
  • Analytical ability to solve clinical nursing issues and conduct quality improvement projects.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

Following the American Nurses Association's "Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice," the registered nurse, under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager, is primarily responsible for professional performance and direct patient care.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The role is designated for nurses who have graduated from nursing school within the twelve (12) months before their date of hire and encompasses nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and coordination of care for patients and their families across the health care continuum. The registered nurse is accountable for clinical, educational, quality, and fiscal patient care outcomes using the model of care designed by the nursing department and following established BMC policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines, and standards of practice.

APPLICATION TIMELINE AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • 12 weeks competency based orientation, including ENA modeled Emergency Nursing specific classes and precepted shifts
  • BLS required
  • ACLS/TNCC certifications included during orientation

REQUIRED EDUCATION


  • BSN preferred
  • If graduated from an ASN program, Registered Nurses are required to enroll in a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) program by the end of the first year of employment and receive their BSN by the end of the semester in which their four (4) year anniversary of employment at BMC occurs.

  • 1+ years of acute care RN experience required
