The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The ISSO (International Students and Scholars Office) at Columbia University seeks a Media Assistant. Duties include assisting ISSO's Communications Team in creating graphics and social media posts (video and still) for Columbia students, faculty, and departments and assisting in weekly social media posts and content.

Our ideal candidate is someone who is enthusiastic, creative, hard-working, and multi-faceted who can enhance our online video production and social media. The position is approximately 20 hours/week, $22/hour to start.

Responsibilities



  • Develop social media content, visuals, and strategy for ISSO Instagram, X, and Facebook channels (video and still graphics).
  • Create graphics and designs for web and print.
  • Work with ISSO staff to edit reels (editing, sound, text/graphic overlays).
  • Assist and take direction from the Senior Assistant Director for Communication.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Medium to strong video and sound editing/production skills.
  • Experience in Adobe Photoshop.
  • Experience with Canva.
  • Excellent English language written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be open to a hybrid work schedule (some days in person at our Armstrong office, W 112th and Broadway, and some days remotely).
  • Must be available for a weekly team meeting (date determined upon start).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to organize information.
  • Previous social media work including scheduling content via platforms such as Buffer is a plus.
  • Experience in media/design for international students and scholars is a plus.
