DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Aide Trainee, you will receive formal and hands-on training to care for our veteran residents. You will distribute meals, transport residents, and engage residents in social activities. You will also change linens, clean medical equipment, and respond to requests for snacks and water. After completing an 8-hour online course, a 16-hour classroom session, and an 80-hour orientation program, you will be eligible for promotion to a Nurse Aide position. Our dedicated nursing staff provides 24/7 care, assistance, and friendly conversation, bringing joy to the veterans and their spouses who call HVH home.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
  • Work hours are 1st shift (6:45 AM to 3:15 PM) and 2nd shift (2:45 PM to 11:15 PM), with rotating days and weekends, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
