Description

AMPI owns seven Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation's American-type cheese, processed cheese and butter is produced. The cooperative's award-winning cheese, butter and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled buttermakers and cheesemakers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
  2. Direct and manage all warehouse operations, optimizing warehouse capacity, inventory, and floor utilization to increase department productivity, operating within budget controls.
  3. Audit equipment, processes and procedures for effectiveness and efficiency. Establish accountability and take corrective action when necessary.
  4. Monitor, verify, and coordinate 3rd party warehousing as required.
  5. Manage effective employee relations.
  6. Manage metrics associated with both on and off-site operations which include direct labor costs, shipment errors on product shortages and damaged product.



  1. Maintain relationships with customer, vendors, transportation entities and corporate personnel. Resolve customer complaints.



  1. Manage safety, loss control, food safety and quality systems.
  2. Lead the development, planning and implementation of systems ensuring proficient methods of transportation of ingredients, packaging, and finished product to and from the facility.
  3. Effectively communicate policy and procedure changes, operational updates, safety and quality concerns. Provide feedback on department goals.
  4. Lead investigations, analyze for root cause, promptly report, and recommend corrective action.



  1. Maintain inventories in JDE system. Monitor usage. Investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  2. Manage physical inventory counts.



  1. Responsible for off duty emergency calls that cannot be resolved within the department.
  2. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE



  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), required
  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, or related field preferred.
  • Five years' experience in dairy or food production, manufacturing, industrial process operations or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Three years of supervisory experience, preferred.
