Department's Website: JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Provides career planning by exploring a student's skills, interests, and values to assist in determining a major and career choice; assisting students in resume development and career readiness skills. Approves reasonable accommodations for students with accessibility needs while reporting any concerns to the Director of Student Development. Assists students with self-advocacy and reporting concerns related to the effectiveness of accommodations. Assists students with removing barriers with notetaking, reading, and writing with technology and/or other auxiliary services. Provides student readiness programming to assist students with development of study skills, time management, test taking, and other skills of student success. Provides quality academic advising that guides students toward their educational goals. Reviews test placement scores, high school and transfer credits, and degree plan requirements to register students in the appropriate courses. Assists students in testing services, when necessary, by scheduling and proctoring exams and other related tasks. Actively participates in student retention through early alert initiatives and monitoring the academic progress and performance of students. Actively participates in campus programming, such as new student orientation, that contributes to the development of a holistic student. Provides workshops that are tailored to student's needs, such as career prep, self- care, and finals prep. Refers students to on or off-campus professional counseling services, if needed, and other ancillary care providers in accordance with ACA Code of Ethics. Maintains current knowledge and best practices in student development by attending local, state, regional, or national conferences and meetings. Actively serves and participates on campus committees, as assigned. Effectively handles sensitive issues and maintains confidentiality. Performs other duties as assigned.
