General Summary of Position

We are actively recruiting for an experienced Grant Administrator to join our team at MedStar Health Research Institute (MHRI).

Responsible for conducting pre and post award activities related to grants at MHRI. Works with PI's to prepare proposal packages and take the lead in submissions to outside sponsors. Takes the lead in drafting subaward documents and assuring that MHRI grants are in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative guidance, support, and assistance to scientific centers, including Principal Investigators (PIs), Scientific Center Administrative Directors (SCAs) and research staff on grant proposals, award agreements, and subawards.
  • Reviews sponsor requests for proposals (RFPs), develops project timelines and requirements in conjunction with PI/SCA, maintains communications with proposal research staff, including external teams, regarding submission and timelines.
  • Serves as point of contact with all external sponsors.
  • Compiles, reviews and submits federal applications while assuring that the applications meet all applicable federal and MedStar guidelines and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinates in regular proposal review meetings with research teams and assures that PIs are kept apprised of changes in application processes, forms and instructions.
  • Negotiates award terms and conditions, budgets, and scope of work as appropriate and approve sponsored agreements.
  • Reviews contract and grant award terms and conditions to ensure that this information is relayed to the research and administrative teams appropriately.
  • Reviews, endorses, negotiates and accepts federal and foundation agreements for research activities and terms and conditions acceptable to MedStar and PI.
  • Maintains frequent contact with contracting parties, sponsors and study centers for efficient and timely contract negotiations and execution.


  • Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, economics, health services or related discipline required, or an equivalent combination of training and experience or certification in grants administration required

    Experience

    • 5-7 years progressive experience administering grants in an academic medical center setting, non-profit research institution, or federal agency preferred


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Verbal and written communication skills.
    • Basic computer skills preferred.

    This position has a hiring range of $63,793 - $113,318
