DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Social Casework Intern, you will participate in a structured six-month on-the-job training program involving the performance of social caseworker duties. Upon successful completion of the internship, you will function competently in the field of social services. You will have the opportunity to work in conjunction with a caseworker to perform duties such as:

  • General intake and assessment
  • Receipt and recording of intakes
  • Intake investigations
  • Service planning
  • Work with families and children

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time internship, starting approximately at the beginning of the Spring 2025 semester
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Enrollment as a full time student in a bachelor's degree program in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related behavioral science, and completion of 75 credits, including completion of 15 credits in one of the listed majors.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
