Compensation Grade: P18Compensation Details: Minimum: $63,887.00 - Maximum: $63,887.00 AnnuallyDepartment (OHEHR) AI - AIDS InstituteJob Description: Responsibilities The Bureau of HIV/STI Field Services (BHSFS) is hiring a Program Research Specialist II. The primary goal of the BHSFS is to prevent and reduce the incidence of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STI) using a status-neutral approach. Critical to achieving this goal is the delivery of partner services, an evidence-based intervention that has been successful in identifying persons unaware of their HIV or STI status and reducing disease transmission. Partner services enhances the impact of HIV and STI prevention efforts in New York State, and it is an essential collaborator in achieving the goals of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy, providing direct services to communities across NYS in support of the AIDS Institute's mission, and the Office of Health Equity and Human Rights initiatives addressing preventable public health epidemics. The Program Research Specialist II will perform data analysis of HIV and STI reports received in the Bureau because of partner services interventions. Duties include conducting assessments; cleaning and analyzing data; providing technical assistance and educating Bureau and local health department staff on data collection and reporting; identifying issues that impact data completeness and quality and contribute to making recommendations for program improvements. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics/Statistics or a related field and two years of research experience in the collection and analysis of data; OR an Associate's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics/Statistics or a related field and four years of such experience; OR six years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of such experience. Preferred Qualifications Work experience with STI or HIV data. Familiarity with STI or HIV laboratory data interpretation. Experience evaluating and improving data quality. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Working knowledge of SAS. Conditions of Employment Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required. Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Travel, up to 25% of the time, will be required. This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.
